Bulgarian plans plea in Ore.-Ohio ID theft case

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Court records show a Bulgarian man accused of stealing the name of an Ohio boy and using it to get a job with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission is expected to plead guilty in federal court next week.
The Oregonian reports Doitchin (DOY-chen) Krastev (KRAHZ-tehv) is scheduled to change his plea Nov. 3 before U.S. District Judge James Redden in Portland.
Federal prosecutors charged Krastev with aggravated identity theft and making a false statement on a passport.
Authorities say Krastev came to the United States as a student in the late 1990s and later attended college before vanishing.
He surfaced in Colorado before moving to Oregon. He worked for the OLCC for eight years, until investigators learned his true identity was not Jason Evers, an Ohio boy killed in 1982 when Krastev was still in Bulgaria.
