Fake ID leads to 21 balloons of heroin

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A routine traffic stop turned into a large drug bust when deputies discovered the driver was trying conceal his identity and 21 balloons filled with heroin.

Francisco Javier Ruiz Lopez was arrested Thursday morning after police noticed him cutting through a parking lot to get around a red light.

Deputies said Lopez provided them with a false ID and fake name when they originally pulled over.

After they realized his information didn't check out, deputies pressed him for his real name. Eventually he showed them a Mexico Voter's ID Card with his real name.

Lopez was arrested for concealing his identity.

Deputies then found 19 balloons of heroin in his car during an inspection of his vehicle. Lopez also had two drug-filled balloons and $1,085 on him.
